The new champion returned home Wednesday, December 15 in Milton Keynes.

Verstappen faced an intense dramatic battle with Lewis Hamilton in the final round of the season finale, but managed to overtake him to win the title.

However, the victory was marred by an appeal from Mercedes, after a safety car had to intervene on the penultimate lap of the race.

It was unusual in that the plan is to release all overtaken cars before the race leaders.

However, to the dismay of Hamilton’s teammates, Verstappen’s crowned title was secured.
