Netflix F1 Drive to Survive team takes on golf and tennis with new shows

Netflix and Box to Box Films go from Formula 1 races to golf and tennis stars.

Netflix brought a horde of new fans to Formula 1 racing with its Formula 1: drive to survive docuseries. Now the streaming service is taking on professional golf and tennis, working with the producers behind Drive to Survive on two new shows announced this week.

the Netflix Pro Tennis Series will follow a year in the life of the world’s biggest tennis stars as they travel the world throughout 2022 to compete in all four Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, the French Open, the US Open and Wimbledon. Filming has already started at the Australian Open, which is about to begin in Melbourne.

Netflix said on Friday that the tennis series would also be “the first sports program of its kind to provide an equal platform for male and female competitors in the sport.”

For the golf series, Netflix will follow professional golf players through the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, US Open Championship and The Open, as well as The Players Championship and FedExCup.

“With unprecedented access behind the ropes and behind the scenes, the series will capture the intensity of training, travel, winning and losing through the lens of a diverse group of players and their support teams,” Netflix said.

“Even the most dedicated golf fans have never seen the sport like this,” added Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president for unscripted series and documentaries.
