TEAM, DRIVERS FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE BRABHAM BT63 GT2 CONCEPT REVEALED
Brabham Automotive has announced that High Class Racing will take responsibility for driving the Brabham BT63 GT2 concept in its first race at Circuit Paul Ricard.
The Danish team will be responsible for operating the new machine in France during the season finale of the GT2 championship from October 1-3.
David Brabham, Sporting Director of Brabham Automotive, will take the wheel of the Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept, alongside Dennis Andersen of High Class Racing.
High Class Racing currently leads the GT2 Championship Pro-Am Series with 4 wins, 6 podiums, 2 Pole Position and 7 fastest laps to date, and recently competed in the LMP2 category of the FIA ââWorld Endurance Championship.
Brabham takes on the task with extensive driving experience, having won Le Mans three times and competed in Formula 1.
The 56-year-old also drove the Brabham BT62 to victory in its inaugural race at Brands Hatch in 2019.
Brabham referred to the occasion by expressing his enthusiasm for piloting the new concept.
âThis represents an important milestone in the growth of Brabham Automotive, similar to the victory in the Brabham BT62 debut when I crossed the finish line at Brands Hatch in 2019,â said Brabham.
âThe European FGT2 series organized by SRO will be a formidable test against serious competition, a challenge that we look forward to.
“We look forward to working with High Class Racing, and I look forward to driving with Dennis Andersen at this historic event for Brabham Automotive.”
Andersen has driven in the LMP2 Pro-Am class with High Class Racing since 2016 and will be driving a GT2 car for the first time in this mission.
The Dane thought the opportunity was important for several reasons.
âI am very happy to share this experience with a legend like David,â said Andersen.
âIt will be my return to GT, a category I last raced in 2016, and I’m really looking forward to it.
âThis event will be very important, not only for Brabham, as they make their official debut in this category with the aim of racing all season in 2022, but also for my teammates and friends, Anders and Mark, as they fight. . for the title.
âWe will do our best to help them achieve their goal. Personally, I hope to get used to the car quickly so that I can enjoy each session, and we will try to achieve the best possible results.
The Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept was designed, engineered and built in Australia by the same team that delivered the Brabham BT62 and BT62R, and is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter Brabham V8 engine.
Brabham Automotive intends to enter the BT63 in full-time GT2 competition for the 2022 season, pitting the newcomer against Audi, KTM, Lamborghini and Porsche machines.
